Cultural Resource Consultants® LLC

About Us

A Woman-owned Alaskan Small Business since 1975

Cultural Resource Consultants® LLC is a Woman-owned small business. We are the oldest Alaskan firm focusing on providing expert professional services for cultural resource management throughout Alaska. Founded in 1975 by Linda Finn Yarborough, CRC began in Fairbanks as a sole proprietorship, with initial archaeological surveys in the Tanana River valley, but soon began working on projects in other parts of the state.  In 2004 CRC reorganized as a partnership and Limited Liability Company.  Our firm is well-qualified to undertake a wide variety of projects involving traditional cultural properties, pre-contact and historic period archaeological sites, historic buildings, cultural landscapes, and artifact collections.

We have over 45 years of experience in advising clients on cultural resource issues and assisting them in complying with their obligations under Sections 106 and 110 of the National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA) and the Alaska Historic Preservation Act (AHPA). We also have cooperatively completed over 150 studies and associated documentation necessary for compliance with the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) and applications for Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) licenses.

Over the years, we have built a reputation for professionalism and quality of work. We retain skilled staff and maintain relationships with specialists to ensure we have the expertise to do the work right. Our services span all aspects of cultural resource management from consultation to archaeological and architectural surveys and evaluations, to mitigation and the creation of agreement documents, such as Memoranda of Agreement (MOA), Programmatic Agreements (PA), and Historic Property Management Plans (HPMP).

Since 2001, we have teamed with Welsh Whiteley Architects LLC of Ketchikan to document over 300 historic buildings throughout Alaska at levels ranging from evaluation for the National Register to HABS/HAER documentation.  We have recently begun collaborating with Logic Geophysics & Analytics LLC of Anchorage on projects that include a need for ground-penetrating radar.  Working together with these colleagues allows us to broaden the scope of the archaeological and historic architectural documentation, interpretation, and planning that CRC’s staff can accomplish for our clients.
